Hollis, New Hampshire
Hollis, NH is a small bedroom community that sits on the Massachusetts border. Long country roads and tree-lined streets make up much of Hollis' 32.3 square miles. Hollis was once a farming community. Apple orchards and farmstands are still in existence today. Like many other New Hampshire towns, many of the Hollis residents commute to Massachusetts.
There are approximately 8000 residents of Hollis. Residents have succeeded in keeping the growth to a minimum to retain the old town charm. When driving through Hollis, you will still see the farmland, pumpkin patches, and 1800's farmhouses from yesteryear. There is very little new construction in Hollis.
Hollis keeps a strong sense of community through the many celebrations it holds throughout the year. The annual strawberry festival is put on every Spring. Likewise, with the number of apple orchards throughout Hollis, the town holds an annual apple festival. Like other New Hampshire towns, Hollis also holds an annual Old Home Day. Hollis' Old Home Day is such a celebration, it lasts for 2 days! It is complete with carnival food, crafts, and rides.
